Access Statement
The Commodore Hotel is commandingly set in the charming waterside
village of Instow. Overlooking a fascinating and constantly changing
waterfront scene of sandy beaches and the Taw and Torridge Estuaries, it
is one of the prettiest locations on the North Devon Coast.
Just minutes from the North Devon link road and the historic towns of
Bideford and Barnstaple the hotel provides a unique oasis for exploring
local heritage, galleries, potteries and museums. Set amidst the famous
Tarka Country there are many miles of spectacular walks through unique
countryside and landscapes. Simply relax in the peaceful, picturesque
coastal surroundings.
The Hotel has a large private car park with night portage.
Arrival and Rooms
The nearest train station is Barnstaple which is approximately six miles
away. There is a good bus service from there direct to Instow, the bus
stop being located a few minutes walk from the hotel. Taxis are also
readily available.
Upon arrival there is a concrete ramp leading to the front door which
opens outwards. Reception is located straight in front of the main door
for check in. Portage will be offered on arrival.
We have 25 bedrooms all en suite, ten sea facing with private balconies
and ten rear/side facing on the first floor. We have five ground floor
luxury rooms two with walk in showers three with baths and showers
overhead. These are accessible by three steps with handrails either
side. For Wheelchair users we have a platform lift to take you to these
rooms. We would advise however the showers are not equipped to take
wheelchairs. All rooms are fitted with up to date fire alarms. We would
advise all guests to familiarise themselves with the fire drill notice
in guests information folders.
All rooms have freeview televisions with built in radios all operated by
remote control, side and table lamps and overhead lighting. The majority
also have trouser presses. We would advise we do not use duvets but
traditional blankets and sheets.
The whole reception, bar and restaurant areas are all on one level with
toilets located in the bar area and a disabled toilet is situated at the
end of the Restaurant which has non slip flooring and a pull alarm cord.
Restaurant, Bar and Lounge Areas
All areas, reception, restaurant, bar, halls, stairs and landings are
well lit and carpeted. The Residents Lounge is situated alongside our
Luxury Marine Bedrooms on the ground floor with three steps leading down
to it. The Residents Lounge has comfortable leather sofas together with
low coffee tables. The flooring is Canadian oak. Bar Food and Drink for
Residents can be served in this Lounge just telephone Reception for
assistance.
The Restaurant is located just by reception which is spacious with full
glass windows for guests to enjoy the views. The bar has comfortable
chairs with medium size tables.
The Bar is open for food both lunchtimes and evenings with daily
specials printed available from the bar.
The Restaurant is open every Evening and Sunday Lunchtimes.
