The Christmas light Switch on is becoming the kick start to the festive season for many. 2017 is promised to be the best yet according to the Barnstaple Town Council Management.
There is a full day planned, one that will entertain the kids and adults so whether you are staying with us at The Commodore Hotel or you live locally be sure to visit Barnstaple on Sunday 19th November.
The Pannier Market will host another fantastic Christmas Street Food Party to include a day of family fun from 11 am - 6 pm. You can expect live music entertainment and the usual tasty food from the local street food traders.
At 1 pm, There will be a world record attempt by local schools taking part in the national annual tapathon, they will be raising funds for children in need so if you are town make sure you go along and support and cheer them on.
From 4 pm, you will want to make your way down to the square where there will be a whole host of festive entertainment to enjoy. Local songstress Yazzy will be singing with the children's choir followed by a performance from Reuben Jones, nine alongside his father Jim Jones/Small Town Jones.
At 5:15 pm North Devon Hospice and Children's Hospice South West will launch their light up a life campaign. This campaign gives people the opportunity to celebrate the lives of those they have lost at this special time of the year as well as supporting the vital work of these fantastic local charities. At 5:30 pm you can a sneak peak of Barnstaple’s most spectacular pantomime ever, Beauty and the Beast, and then the countdown before the lights are switched on at 6:00 pm by local community hero - Lisa Wallis from charity ChemoHero.
